Welcome to Asian Canoe Confederation website.
Mr. Shoken Narita took over as the 4th President of Asian Canoe Confederation (ACC) following his first successful election during the 15th ACC Congress held on 26th September 2009 in Teheran, Iran. He later successfully retained the presidency during the 16th ACC Congress held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan on 25th September 2013. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of International Canoe Federation (ICF) and an Executive Director in the Japan Canoe Federation.
The President’s vision is for a united Asian Canoe community, one in which the continent’s great diversity becomes an instrument to promote solidarity between athletes, coaches, technical officials, clubs and National Member Associations. President Narita’s perpetual mission is pan-continental development, the establishment of canoeing activity in all countries and Asia’s leadership as a dominant contender in world-class competitions.
His lifelong career as a canoeist, beginning notably as one of Asia’s first Olympian Slalom athlete in the 1972 Munich Olympics, has spanned to the field of coaching and teaching (Team Leader for Japan National Team) and eventually organizational leadership from the national to international level. At present, he is heavily engaged in developmental activities throughout Asia for budding organizations, as well as making preparation for canoeing events for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
President Narita continues to advocate the canoe sports fraternity in the national and international arena, taking the helm within a dedicated ACC Executive and Board to shoulder responsibilities for the development of canoe sports in Asia.
